"Kinky Boots" is a musical with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. It is based on the 2005 film of the same name which in turn was inspired by a true story.
The musical follows the story of Charlie Price, who inherits his father's failing shoe factory and teams up with a fabulous drag queen named Lola to create a line of high-heeled boots for drag queens. Through their partnership, they learn to accept and embrace each other's differences, ultimately saving the factory and finding success.
"Kinky Boots" premiered on Broadway in 2013 and won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It has since been performed in numerous productions around the world and has garnered critical acclaim for its heartwarming story, catchy music, and dazzling choreography.
